As you may remember from a previous post, I’ve been working on a math picture book that features African American cultural contexts.
Some of you gave me really good feedback that let me know that I am on the right track with my ideas.
You see these pictures? I can’t draw, and I didn’t have the time to learn how to use a digital drawing tool, so I used Pages (the word processer on Mac) to create the images.
Of course, this version is not the elaborately illustrated, polished book that I hope to put out into the world, but it’s still great to see my ideas come together.
I originally wanted to self-publish the books. But self-publishing really means that you are starting your own publishing business. Although I AM starting my own business, I didn’t think it involved too much publishing.
So, I decided that it would be better to go through an established publisher.
AND…
I was just invited to submit my manuscript to a publisher!
I’ve also adapted a common preschool/kindergarten game used for practicing counting and cardinality to go along with it.
I’m so excited about this. And I’m proud of myself!
I hope it gets accepted. Wish me luck! ????
